
Here at Fit 4 Life, we believe that fitness really is for everyone. Just because you're 'not the sporty type', or 'not as young as you used to be', or are even suffering from ill health, doesn't mean you can't enjoy the benefits of some gentle exercise. We have created a friendly and supportive environment where people can come and exercise under the supervision of our highly qualified team of Instructors.

Fit 4 Life was developed from a charity called 'The Heart Workshop', which was managed by Cumbria Council for Voluntary Service (CCVS), and based in a Community Resource Centre in Maryport, Cumbria.
It was the role of the staff at the Heart Workshop (including the now Fit 4 Life Manager), to set up and run healthy living initiatives for local people, especially those with Heart Disease.
We aim to improve the health and well-being of all local people, especially those who have, or who are at risk of developing chronic diseases such as Coronary Heart Disease, Diabetes and Stroke.

These sessions are for anyone of any age or level of fitness to come along and use our full range of Cardio Machines, Resistance Machines and Free Weights under expert guidance from our team of Instructors.
Use the facilities at your own leisure or if you'd prefer, one of our team will write you a Personalised Exercise Programme to help you to achieve your goals.

Heart Workshop

The Heart Workshop is a combined Phase IV Cardiac Rehabilitation and General Exercise on Referral class.
These structured classes are led by qualified British Association for Cardiac Rehabilitation (BACR) Instructors.
Each class lasts for around 1 hour and consists of 10-15 minutes gradual warm-up and stretching followed by 15-20 minutes of circuit training.
The circuit is a series of cardiovascular (aerobic) and resistance (strength) exercise stations including: Step-ups, Light Weights, Therabands, Sit-to-Stand and more.
These structured classes are led by qualified British Association for Cardiac Rehabilitation (BACR) Instructors.

Health Club

The Health Club Sessions are open sessions for lower risk referrals and over 50's.
There is always specialist Fit 4 Life Instructor present to supervise these sessions and advise clients.
Clients have full use of the whole range of Exercise Machines and Resistance Equipment at Fit 4 Life.
Each client is given a full induction before starting the Health Club where they are shown how to use each piece of equipment and how to perform each exercise safely.
The Fit 4 Life Staff then discuss with the client whether they would like a Personalised Training Programme to follow or to simply use the facilities at their own leisure.
There is always specialist Fit 4 Life Instructor present to supervise these sessions and advise clients.
